About CSIP

The Computer Science Inspire Programme [CSIP] for Secondary schools is one of our proposed responses as a department of Computer and Information Sciences of Covenant University to the sharp digital divide which exists between the secondary schools in Ado-Odo Ota Local Government Area where Covenant University is situated and other part of the world. Our University’s mandate to raise a generation of leaders for Africa’s transformation is premised on the development of a ‘Total Man’ that will develop his world. As an ICT-driven university, we have the commitment to help discover and nurture ICT development potentials in young secondary school students in our LGA, who may never have the opportunity of qualitative ICT education all through their primary and secondary school years.

Computer Science Inspire Program (CSIP) is the department's version of Computer Science for High School (CS4HS). It is a workshop that will enable us reach out to more schools and develop sustainable programmes. The specific goals of this workshop are:
  1. To raise Computer Science and Technology awareness in the Secondary Schools in the LGA, by exposing participants to Web technologies and its applications to e-Learning.
  2. To introduce participants to the concept of Web design and its application to e-learning and to demonstrate same in the development of simple web artefacts.
  3. To foster collaborative learning among participants through the social media and the formation of a Computer Science Teachers Association for Secondary Schools in Ado-Odo Ota LGA.
  4. To develop resource materials that can be incorporated into Secondary School Computer Curriculum in Ado-Odo Ota LGA and beyond in the near future.
  5. To inspire Secondary School Students to consider Career prospects in Computer Science and ICT-related fields
  6. To introduce Google Apps for Educational purpose to participants
